Local School vs. International School: The pros and cons


Choosing the right school for their children is one of the big decision of the parents that makes a brighter future for their kids. Nowadays due to the increased population, the number of schools are establishing. There is a variety of syllabus that is preached in the school. It may be state board, Matriculation, CBSE, ICSE, IGCSE etc. Their wide range of education system makes the parents get confused about selecting a perfect school for their child. Let’s have a look at the International and local school. There pros and cons.

International School

Numerous international schools are started in Tamilnadu and all over India. Most of the parents prefer IGCSE School in Chennai. The international school was built to transfer the local education system into the global education system. The education was given on the basis of abroad style.

Pros

1.    Basically, your children might not be able to adapt to new school culture, so international schools are the best fit for the child who wants some time to settle in the school culture. Most of the international school have small classrooms, so it’s a low possibility that the child feels affected.
2.    Some International school combines cultural studies to provide their student both local and international studies.
3.   The international school mainly concentrate on practical based studies, so that student able to get live project work studies.
4.   They also follow the baccalaureate programme that paved the path for students when it comes to university applications which are identified in most the countries in the world and helps your child get the easy transition to different countries.
Cons

1.    International schools are very expensive when compared to local school.
2.    It also disengages your family into an expatriate community while you are living abroad.
3.    It sometimes creates confusion in children mind as they are exposed to the local, and have to follow international educational activities.



Local School

Local schools provide the normal education system that is followed in your country. There will not be any new cultural impact. The education is provided based on your convenient either in your local language or in the English language.  But it will lead to a tough situation if you are going to immigrate to some other countries. See its pros and cons.

Pros
1.     Less expensive when compared to international school.
2.  Children who attend the local school can easily learn the local language faster when compared to international schools because they generally use standard language for speaking in the class.
3.    On the other hand, it’s much easier for the student to adapt the customs and traditions of the country when they opt for a local school.
4.   The main advantage is that student experience how it’s like to live among the local people.

Cons

·        Local schools are not much competition when compared to international school
·       The educational system may not be good in some countries.
·       The local school follows a specific curriculum and if this curriculum is not accepted by other countries then your child has to repeat a level again.

Both Local and international have their own pros and cons. So select the excellent school for your child because schooling creates a great impact on your child life. Choose them wisely.
